Essential operation
Essential / functional operation remains available whether optional categories are accepted or rejected. The public site stores consent choices locally and the motion preference for the browser session. Separately, the authenticated CMS uses a session cookie named __Host-relec_cms outside local development (relec_local_cms locally), with Secure outside local mode, HttpOnly and SameSite=Strict settings. Production hosting cookies and logs still require verification.
Local preferences
The motion preference uses sessionStorage under relec-motion. Consent choices use localStorage under relec-consent-v1 and include Essential, Analytics and Marketing choices, a timestamp, record version and policy version. The record has no automatic time expiry: it remains until replaced, browser storage is cleared or its version becomes outdated. A version change asks for a new choice. No remote consent record or enquiry answers are stored by this preference system. If local storage is unavailable, choices apply only to the current page; a sessionStorage safeguard under relec-consent-blocked-v1 is used where available to prevent an older permission being restored.
Analytics
Google Analytics 4 is optional. Its script loads only when a Measurement ID is configured and Analytics permission has been given. It is inactive while its ID is empty. Once active it can process usage and device/network information and set _ga and _ga_* cookies. Google advertising signals and ad personalization are disabled by this adapter. Provider settings and actual cookie lifetimes require review before activation.
Marketing
Meta Pixel is optional. Its script loads only when a Pixel ID is configured and Marketing permission has been given. It is inactive while its ID is empty. Once active it can process page visits and device/network information and set cookies such as _fbp and, where applicable, _fbc. Automatic advanced matching is not configured by this site; provider settings and cookie lifetimes require review before activation. No LinkedIn Insight Tag is installed.
Changing your choices
Use Cookie preferences in the footer to accept all optional categories, reject them or save separate Analytics and Marketing choices. Essential operation remains available. Withdrawal disables site-controlled future tracking, requests provider revocation, removes accessible known optional cookies and reloads the page when a loaded service is withdrawn. It cannot recall data already sent, guarantee cancellation of in-flight requests or remove cookies belonging to other domains. Clearing browser storage asks for a new choice.
Before production
Production provider settings, actual cookie lifetimes, storage inventory, consent requirements and withdrawal behaviour require legal and operational review before activation. Staging does not use production IDs; only separately enabled test settings can activate optional services there. This draft is not a compliance certification.
